VMware-vSphere-CLI commands for backup of esxi host configurations

Dear Experts:

Have installed VMware-vSphere-CLI-5.0.0 on windows 7 pro laptop now would like to take the Esxi host configurations backup for the Esxi host and Vcenter as a appliance.

when execute the below command iam getting an error

C:\Program Files (x86)\VMware\VMware vSphere CLI\bin>vicfg-cfgbackup.pl 192.168.
1.218
Enter username: root
Enter password:
Error connecting to server at 'https://localhost/sdk/webService': Perhaps host i
s not a vCenter or ESX server

my esxi host ip is 192.168.1.250 and vcenter ip is 192.168.1.218

please provide me the command syntax for the backup.

able to take backup of Esxi host with the above.

how to takebackup of vcenter host

1. is it recommended to take the back of vcenter instead of Esxi host or taking the Esxi host backup is receommended, please suggest

you cannot take a backup of the vCenter host, you can only backup and restore the configuration of the ESXi host server.
