Question:
The networkID 10.0.0.0 is to be divided in to 3 subnets with 8 clients.  Every subnet should have as few client IP's as possible.

My answer would be to use a subnet mask of 255.255.255.240. That would leave me with 16 subnets with 14 client IP's pr. subnet and the first scope being

10.0.0.0 - 10.0.0.15 (15 being broadcast etc)
10.0.0.16 - 10.0.0.31
10.0.0.32 - 10.0.0.46
etc

Because as far as I know you cant get 3 subnets with room for 8 clients.

you can you just have to write the subnet mask binary, then 8 = 2^? --> 2^3 = 8
you need the last 4 bits for 8 clients because of netid and broadcast.
now for 3 subnets you need another 2 bits so your subnet mask would be

Net ID 11111111.11111111.11111111.11 Subnet 00 Host 0000
Net ID 11111111.11111111.11111111.11 Subnet 01 Host 0000
Net ID 11111111.11111111.11111111.11 Subnet 10 Host 0000
