Virtual Machines OS licencing

After migrate phisical machine to virtual machine on VMware Vsphere 5 enviroment  the new virtual machine request me Micosoft OS licence,   can I migrate the licence  from the phisical server to the virtual?

what licence do you have is it OEM? if so then you can't as that is not transferable.

to be able to use VMware with the most functionality you will need a data centre licence per processor to allow for unlimted machines and allow you to migrate

if the physical server uses a retail or volume license it can be transferred.

OEM - no

OEM meaning the licensed OS was supplied with hardware
