Hi,

I have a sql cluster(active/passive) on windows cluster which has two nodes.the current sql cluster we use for testing environment.we would like to install one more sql cluster on same windows cluster for stage environment.
1.Can we have multiple sql clusters(active/passive) on single windows cluster?
2.if it is eligible to install multiple sql clusters on single windows cluster what would be the process to go head with one more cluster installation?
3.what are the merits and demerits if we do so?

Yes one can have multiple SQL instances on a cluster.
An addition group and resources would be required (disk, IP and network name).

One documented process is listed at this link:
http://thomaspullen.wordpress.com/2009/06/04/installing-a-sql-server-2008-instance-into-an-existing-failover-cluster-of-2005-instances/

One node should be able to support both instances so the passive node can be taken off line for patching etc., better use of hardware can run both instance on each node.
