Want to upgrade an SFF desktop
I made a mistake by buying a friend an SFF computer (Acer Veriton X series) and now he wants to upgrade it with a new video card. Which means he also needs to upgrade the power supply. What should we do? Can we buy a regular power supply and hook it up leaving it outside the tower? or do we have to buy a TXF power supply because anything else won't be compatible?
Thank for the help. Please let me know if you need any other questions answered.

The existing PSU should have enough power for a low end video card. What is wattage on 12 volt rail and what video card are you considering?

Currently does 250W but wouldn't mind getting a card that requires a 400W and above. As for video card selection, one of the low profile one's. But would all depend on what kind of wattage we can get in a power supply.

Thanks for the advice. Just was hoping for an easy way out for a bad choice on my part. We've found someone to buy the computer and we are going to start from scratch with a barebones kit.
that seems the best outcome..
