Network Broadcast Storm

All of my switches light are blinking in unison.  I am wondering if there is some type of software I can install that will show me how everything is connected so I can see if there is a loop somewhere?  I have used spiceworks but the map doesn't seem to be updating..

Most switches have storm / flood control enabled by default however you might need to adjust the rate threshold and mode depending on what you are trying to achieve.  A couple questions

1. What type of switch do you have
2. Are you experiencing any network issues or are you just concerned about the blinking lights. (This is probably just normal broadcast traffic)

Also, to answer your questions try Capsa, you can analyze your broadcast traffic with this software.

we have 3com switches I am mainly concerned about the lights.  I don't think it's normal broadcast traffic because both switches and phone server and router are all blinking at the same time.

Wireshark.

I prefer the portable version on a USB stick, but it can see broadcast storms from any location on your LAN.

Is there something that will show you a map of the network with the switches to make sure that something isn't looped?

Capsa offers a pretty good freeware version of there software which IMO trumps Wireshark in many areas (not all).  Use both if you want.  Download Capsa Free here

Do you mean like "See full map" in Win7's Network and Sharing Center?
