You want to go into the bios/setup when the computer boots. From there you need to look into the menus. You are trying to see if there is a setting for SATA MODE. Most likely it needs to be toggled to another choice besides its default. The lingo of the modes is escaping me right now, but usually if you find this setting and change the SATA mode to something else windows will then see it during install.

here is the actual driver itself from gateway. It is the first one in the list ahci sata driver. You can save this and unzip this to a usb flash drive and use this during setup as well.

i'm sorry - but it asks for a CD/DVD driver, not HARD disk driver
you can try the the MS fixit : http://support.microsoft.com/kb/982116

now - it can be caused by a bad drive or connection, so :
-test if you can boot from a bootable cd (windows install cd?)
-test with another drive, or cable
-or test this drive on another PC
