How to open a specific port in OS X 10.6 firewall?

OS X 10.6's firewall is application-specific instead of port-specific, which is handy in some ways, but I do need to open a single port. Anyone know how to do that without resorting to third-party software like WaterRoof?

You'll need to go to the command line and use the built-in BSD based "ipfw" command.  You may have to stop the Application firewall to get this to work.  Start /Applications/Utilities/Terminal.app to get your terminal.  In the terminal you'll need to run "sudo ipfw".
