copying laptop hard drive to another laptop

Hi,
I have an old dell laptop in which the motherboard went bad so wanted to take my hard drive
and copy the data to another media so i can save my pictures.  Was thinking of installing the old drive into another laptop i have which is also old but not a dell.  Its an hp.  Since i only want the data what would be best way to go about this?  thanks.

Not gonna work, because of the hardware drivers and such. You can by a usb cable converter and connect your old harddrive externally and copy the data you want to your internal HP laptop drive.

@dankyle67  - Get one that handles SATA and IDE in the same enclosure as that will also come in handy. .... Thinkpads_User
