I have a computer that is very slow, sometimes the System process takes up 50% CPU usage and the computer has to be restarted in order to end it. I did a malaware scan and ran a registry repair. What other things can i look for to see why this is happening? Windows XP OS.

Download Process Explorer or Process Hacker and know exactly which sub-process is  taking all the resources.

in the run box, type msconfig
in startup tab, click diisable all
in services tab, clcik "hideMs services" then click disable all
reboot and test
if the problem is gone, finsd the cause by enabling programs and services in groups, or 1 by 1

Still Unable to figured out what is taking up that system process. Tried the tools and they cant go deep enough to find the sub process that is taking up 50%, tried to disable all the services, still getting system process hung at 50%

maybe time to run a ram and disk diag
download UBCD, and run memetest86+ for ram, and the disk diag for your disk brand:

you can also check if it happens when you boot in safe mode (F8 key)
