It's not possible to accomplish this through XP's disk management.  You need a partitioning software.  Here is a free one that can do the job.  You just need to delete your 2nd partition and then extend your primary one.  It's really easy to do.

I think I have it, but would like you to confirm for me.
I deleted 2nd drive and resized 1st drive, with the unallocated space to the correct amount .
I am afraid to hit "apply" until i hear from you
have I done it correctly?  can I hit apply?  Without changing logical, primary, extend or anything else?  just "apply"?
thanks

" You just need to delete your 2nd partition and then extend your primary one.  It's really easy to do."  You said it.  i was just afraid of the word "extend", and please understand, i have wiped HDD's before, accidentally.  I have used this program at least 2 dozen times in the past and his was so easy i could cry. Thanks for responding.

Sorry I didn't get back to you earlier.  I'm glad you went ahead and tried it.  It's very simple with this program.  Glad you got it figured out.
