Generic USB Host Driver - One of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned
Can someone help me find the right driver for my motherboard USB host controller? I have a HP xw8600 workstation running Windows 7 x64, the problem is that windows is using a generic driver, so every time I connect a USB device, it tells me that "One of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned" I've tried to uninstall and re-install the generic driver, however it did not work, I've also tried to download from HP, but no drivers available. Not sure how can I find the proper driver now. Any ideas?
jdff--Open Device Manager. Any triangular Yellow icons (for problem) shown--especially under "Universal Serial Bus controllers" and "IEEE 1394 Bus host controllers"?
If so, right click on the item with the yellow icon|Properties|Driver tab|Update Driver.
If that does not help Uninstall the driver from the same location in Device Manager and reboot.

Your USB device should be attached to the PC in both cases.
