Outlook rules move without exporting first

Is there a way to get Outlook rules and filters directly from a file (or whatever), if the 'export' wasn't done first?

We had a hardware failure of a computer, but I was able to get all files back (desktop, my docs, templates, signatures, etc.) by connecting the HDD externally to another computer. The user tells me he had several rules in Outlook he would rather not need to recreate.

I know you can Import rules, but that was dependent on doing an Export first.

Can I get those rules back any other way?

Depends on what version Of outlook is being used
If 2003 or earlier the rules are sotred in an rwz file
However, you cant just copy the file
You would have needed to export them and re-import for them to work

Now if you using Outlook 2007 or 2010
The rules would be sotred in the backed up PST or Mailbox, you should be able to still use them but may need to re-setup the folder direction

It is Outlook 2003, so I think I am out of luck.

Thanks for the input, though.
