Use Java to Scan Windows directories for a specific file?

Experts,

I've looked at the posts on here but haven't found exactly what I'm looking for. I would like to use Java (or whatever, maybe VB?)to search Windows directories and bring the user to that location to view a document in that directory
 For example,
C:\dups\labels
223
224
225
226

or F:\dups\labels

using a windows popup screen to take the users filename.
Is something like that possible?
