what kind of server is it

basically, set up the router to route requests to the domain, to the local ip address

You can edit the local hosts file.

This file is located here:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc
Open the file called 'Hosts' with notepad.

Follow the directions contained within the file and add the server name and IP address.

I need to give this server domain name www.companename.com

you can also set a dns server, how many computers on the network?

if it is extremely little editing the host file might be optimal

if you want people to connect to it from outside the network, you will have to configure the router to take a certain port and forward it to the server. then have the server take information from that port and communicate with the webapp

IE ( computer ip 192.168.1.25 , port 9500 )

router set to route port 9500 to
192.168.1.25:9500

then the set the domain records from your company domain provider to direct
company.com to 'your external ip:port 9500'

or use openDNS at http://www.moorside.sch.uk/

if this is for internal use only, just edit the host file as shown here
http://www.trishtech.com/internet/redirect_block_sites_using_hosts_file.php
just substitute 127.0.0.1 with the server ip

if you want more info, you will have to provide more info regarding what you want, and what technologies you are using

specifically on the server
Operating system, server type, router model ..etc

Thanks again , it is Windows server 2008 iis

this is how to set up the iis

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/323972

to find the ip address if the server, go onto the computer where you are hosting, go to RUN->> cmd
type
IPCONFIG
it will give you the internal IP address

if this is html, the port is 80

then: type the gateway address into a browser, it will connect you to the router. enter cridentials and find the forwarding tab (or configurations)
forward port 80 to (server ip port 80 )

then the internal settings are done, now go to domain manager (godaddy or whatever), and forward www.yourdomain.com    to your external ip

to find external ip  type 'my ip' in google

it will take up to 72 hrs to update DNS records and have your connection work so if you will not see it right away
then its done

hope this helps
