100% width background cut after shrinking window

I'm working on a site redesign and noticed an issue with my background colors that are stretched across the browser width. If you load the site and shrink the width of the window until you get a horiz scroll bar, and then scroll to the bottom right, you'll notice the grey behind the homepage slider and the grey/orange footer section get cut off. Whats causing this?

Instead of a min-width of 100%, try giving the #footer, #homefeeds a min-width of 990px

Then it doesnt stretch to 100% after you expand the browser back out. I think I've fixed it by adding a content wrapper inside each of those divs with a min-width of 990.

It worked for me in FireFox.
This is the best money I have ever spent. I cannot not tell you how many times these folks have saved my bacon. I learn so much from the contributors.

Ahh, min-width:990px works if I take off float:left;

Doesnt fix the grey behind the slider, but I think I can fix that with an empty content div, unless anyone has a better solution.
