NTFS permission off NetApp share

How to assign NTFS permissions off NetApp share?  Does it work same as normal permissions in Windows?  All I can see is a mapped drive \\hostname and Security tab shows everyone full control.  Is that NTFS or Sharing permissions?  I need to restrict one group to Read only.
Thanks.

If the Volume has ntfs-security style the permissions work like in Windows. In addition to the NTFS permissions there's also the share permissions that can be set in filerview or on the commandline. You can set the permissions like you do in Windows by right clicking on the folder and choosing Security. The settings you get are the NTFS-security settings.

Works the same way.  You can even manage share from the Netapp using Windows Computer Management Console as you would a windows server.  Just make sure you join your controller to your domain
Additional advice... please do not grant security groups unnecessary permissions like Full Control. This allows them to make modifications to your NTFS and Sharing permissions.

Modify/change is sufficient to allow read and write access.

I concur.  I also prefer to give top level permissions on the Netapp and then the rest using Windows.
