Okay the story: Had a virus, removed it, part of what I had to do was use system restore to an earlier date. Ever since doing so, I have been unable to do any updates. I tried viewing the CBS.log file and added several packages to c:\windows\servicing\packa
ges but no luck. If anything I think it added more errors to the cbs.log file :(
Any help to fix this without doing a repair install? Although at this point this seems to be more of a science experiment than efficiently fixing this computer. The user has no complaints of issues with this pc. I just like to keep everything up to date.
