windows live mail server error 5102

Last Modified: 2012-06-04
One of my users is running into this error and since they are remote and on vacation I'm doing some research until they get back into town.

They are using Hotmail, and have been routing it through Windows Live Mail on their PC. Up until recently it was working. This is the error they started to get.

Any thoughts?

Hello,

Thanks for the ideas. This has been a multiple day issue so I'm going to ask them which ISP they are using when this happens and will let you know if it has not cleared up.

When they go to hotmail.com and try to login it works fine.

More info once they reply.

Thanks.

My user has their internet connection through Rogers. Not sure of that one as this user is remote sometimes and I don't live in a part of the country where Rogers provides service.

Waiting to hear if deleting their account from Windows Live Mail and then recreating it fixed the problem. They had not done that due to fear of losing their email but since it's all kept in Hotmail I will let you know if it fixes the issue.

Otherwise it is at Hotmails end and, apparently, if you post a new topic here ( http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windowslive/forum/livemail-email ), they will fix it on their side. Choose a subject like /Server error 5102: Xfs request 'SyncBinary' failed/. Paste the entire error message into the body of the post and give the e-mail address for the troublesome account (this will only be visible to you and the support staff). A mod should (within a day or two) be along to fix your account.
