Is there a way to do texting from my PC?
I use Windows 7 as my OS. I don't have a text pkg with my Android phone because I rarely would use it. However, for those people who have texting as the ONLY OPTION to contact them, is there a way to do so from my PC?
If so, would I also be able to RECEIVE their text response at my PC?
Much thanks.

There are ways to do so, you can just google sms from PC and come up with loads.. however, to have good 2 way communication, It is better to sign up with a voip provider like justvoip or the likes, Here you can "verify" your number once, and then the sms is sent from your PC but the recipient will receive it from your "number" This way all replies come directly to your phone while you send SMS for cheap.

chkiran248,
One question...
Is correct interpretation of following, that whether I send or receive text messages from Google, as long as done on my PC, there will be no charge to me?
"SMS charges: Google does not charge for using this service. However, mobile providers' standard charges will apply to any SMS messages sent from a mobile device to Google Chat. Please check your mobile provider's price plan for details."
Thanks.

Hi, yes , if you use pc, i think there would be no charges, but if you use mobile phone the standard charges will apply.
If you are looking for 'free' sms capability, then even yahoo messenger provides the same. You just need to add the contact to yahoo. you can send for free and the recipient receives for free. The only catch is that the recipient has to reply to atleast 1 in 3 - 5 messages.
You send and receive for free, the recipient sends for a FEE and might have to pay to receive depending on his her package..

You need to know what carrier they're using. I've used Outlook and Windows Live Mail with this, but I don't know if other email programs work.

I have used Google Chat's capability to send a text message/SMS but the person never received it. I made sure that he was in my address book before sending it. Any thoughts?
