Our school has just received 20 ipad 2's and they need to be set up as a class set. This means that they all need to have common apps and settings etc. They also need to be configured so students cannot tamper with the settings and delete or add apps. What is the best way to do this? I have checked some blogs and they seem to suggest to set up one of the Ipads as a master by purchasing and installing all the relevant apps, configuring settings etc. and then connecting it to a "Mother" Windows 7 laptop with Itunes installed to Transfer all Purchases and Backup to the laptop. It is then a matter of connecting each of the other Ipads one at a time to the Mother laptop to do a Restore thus ensuring that each Ipad obtains the same "image" Will the above work or must some other process be used?
Apple Configurator looks like the way to go. However it seems that an Apple MAC is required. I want to use a Windows 7 laptop. Do we have to purchase an Apple MAC wih OS X Lion
