MS Excel - Scatter Chart

Hello experts,

I want to create a scatter chart that shows the attached excel sheet values as the following:
-      The Y scale values to show the values of the salaries highlighted with blue (could be from 0 to 7000).
-      The X scale values to show the grade (7 to 21).
-      The scatter should show the values of the other columns (below budget, range, above budget).  Here is the challenging part, I want the scatter to be vertically split into three parts (max, med, min), and that based on the current value, to show the value (or a dot) in the corresponding part. i.e if the current value is within the min & med (based on the table) then the dot or the value shows in the middle partition of the scatter. The same applies for the rest of the values and corresponding partitions for other scatters.

How doable is that?

Hello,

I can't quite picture what you want to achieve in the chart. An XY Scatter chart plots absolute values. There are ways to visually divide a chart into separate areas, with background coloring.

What is the "current value"?

What data do you want to show in the chart? The values in the blue columns? Or the values in the other columns?

The values in the Minimum, Medium and Maximum columns all range from below 200 to above 3,000. How will that feature?

Can you mock up an example with the Excel drawing tools to show what you have in mind?

cheers, teylyn

Hey Teylyn,

What I want to achieve is something similar to the attached image.

Thanks,

That's a combination of stacked column and XY Scatter.l still don't see how your data fits into that scheme. Especially with regards to the wide range of values in your min, med and max range.

I don't understand what you want to plot. Can you explain?

Hello again,
Perhaps the attached file, sheet 2, better represents the data sent earlier?

Please check!
