AIX: websm
I'm trying to access a AIX machine via websm.
I did: /usr/websm/bin/wsmserver -enable on the server, and the port 9090 listen and it's open on AIX machine.
Still, the only output I receive from websm page( http://IP:9090) is:
I'm using AIX 5.
Thank you!

Thank you!
Are you using a browser or the WSM client?
ASKER
Browser.
Go to http://hostname/remote_client.html (where hostname is the name of your AIX server) and install the proper WSM client from there. If you do not have this client, you will only see the message you shared.
ASKER
Ok, is there a client for Linux?
Is there not a Linux link on that page? It'll still be an EXE but it'll actually run if you make it executable (chmod 755 wsmlinuxclient.exe).
There is a nice readme.txt file in /usr/websm.
The Linux client is in "/usr/websm/pc_client/wsml inuxclient .exe", by the way.
Browser access to WSM is only possible using an Windows IE applet, and it requires a webserver (e.g. Apache) on the managing machine. The embedded webserver does not support applet mode. Starting with AIX 6.1 applet mode is no longer available.
In order to get access to the remote client download page (http://<servername>/remote_clien t.html) start the embedded webserver by running "startsrc -s http4websm" if this hasn't already been done by /etc/inittab.

It's not working for me:

startsrc -s http4websm

wmp,
ROLL ON THE FLOOR LAUGHING!!!
AIX 5L 5.1, May 4, 2001
This is incredible. When Windows had no modern FS properties AIX had JFS and online FS increase?
R-O-F-L.
Man, I'm having a piece of history!
I'm going to try what you suggested. Else, CLI is fine anyway.
Thank you, wmp.

Agh, hahaha, didn't even bother to look at the version numbers. Christ, what are you doing with that antique?

You are, man!
Consider starting a career as an antique collector, to drive those old Egyptians green-eyed!
Thx for the points!

P.S. Yes, isn't it the truth: AIX 5L had even Linux compatibility, and Etherchannel, and HACMP, concurrent LVM, ..., ...

I'm trying to learn more about AIX :)
My hardware is antique also!

What I forgot to mention:
If you don't need client/server mode and have a Linux box with a running X server you could log in to AIX from this box, export your DISPLAY and simply run "wsm".
