allow remote access to postgres from the same subnet

I am creating a virtual appliance which will pick up an ip address in the Bridged mode, so that it will share the subnet of the host.

I would like to allow remote postgres access by the host based on the fact it is on the same subnet. What can I put down in the pg_hba.conf file (in the host line) to specify that restriction?

You need to generate pg_hba.conf from your network configuration before (re)starting it.

I will not be there to do this manually. this advice is only good if you have a way to make it happen automatically.

to gheist, that is one heavy solution! maybe there is not other way to work pg_hba.conf.
This is the best money I have ever spent. I cannot not tell you how many times these folks have saved my bacon. I learn so much from the contributors.

there is no zeroconf support
also setting interface TTL to 1 you keep it in subnet etc...
