Ipod touch sync !

A very basic post! On an ipod touch that has several thousand photos that were synced to a users laptop, the users laptop hard disk has failed. I have the ipod touch connected to another laptop (windows 7) but when I browse to the ipod drive through m computer I can only see one album which is camera role and nothing else?

Each time I plug the laptop into itunes I can enable sync for photos but it seems to suggest it will sync from my pictures to the ipod (which may obviously result in overwriting) so I then thought a simple backup however it only seems to back up settings or config and not photos as the backup happens in a few seconds. I'm guessing there must be an easier way to do this!

If you are on Windows, when you plug in the iPhone/iPod, it will appear as an icon in (My) Computer. If you double click this and browse into the single folder that is in that device, all the pictures should be available.

You can then just copy and paste them out like you would any normal folder.

As mentioned in my post all the pictures do not display when the ipod is plugged in and browsed through my computer. Sharepod allowed me to take all the photos off but something interesting I noticed that you may be able to shed more light on is the photos that were taken with the ipod were available via browsing to my computer, the photos that seem to have been transferred to the ipod were not available, I had to use sharepod to get to them  and when I took them off I noted they were all mobile size photos only about 3kbs each

Why do they not display through my computer?
Strange indeed, what are the extensions on the files? maybe also enable seeing hidden files in folder options and see if they for some reason had a hidden attribute on them. Glad to know sharepod was able to get them off though, useful utility.

I'm not sure why the photos don't show up but the program did the job of removing them
