Building A Website
I want to build a website where my students (members) can logon and update the status on mutible shared projects. Can someone point me in the right direction (i.e. platform, programming, etc).

Thank you everyone, just one more question. What is the most practical approach to building a website. Should I build the website first then hire a developer for functionality, or is it one and the same?

I would say design - because you will be using CSS / images for your layout. Then the programmer will put the code in where it belongs.
Some designers don't understand (programming) code. But you might also find some people who develop and design
