Its not a mail server, exchange isn't setup on it. I think when it was setup there was an option to put in an email address/pop settings to notify of an error. Thats going back 4 years, cant remember.

Notifications wouldn't be sent using the POP service, so I wouldn't think that would be the cause.

This server is not Small Business Server 2003?

Yes, right you are. Its is an SBS.

If it is SBS 2003 then it has Exchange installed by default even if you don't use it.  So you should be able to go into Start>Programs>Exchange>Exchange System Manager and navigate to the connectors and view the settings for the POP3 connector.  If you remove this connector or just take un-schedule the downloads this should eliminate this error in the event log.

Let me know how you get on with it.
