How often should I run a virus scan on my compter/
I have a system which runs Sophos anti virus
It scans files in the background.
It also does a full scan every day.
Users complain this slows them down - which it does.
how often fo you suggest I set it to run - given that Sophos is scanning files all the time?

Is allotting resources. I thought sophos was pretty good about that, I know Vipre and ESET are very good when it comes to that.

P.S. I use Vipre and love it as it gives users the ability (if I give it to them :) LOL) to set up these light scans for times that work for them.

As I said previously, with Vipre I have multiple policies set. for instance, for public machines, I scan them every hour. For workstations, I have a policy set to scan twice a day. For servers, I have a policy set to scan every 3 hours.
