DV6 Smart Hard disk error
I have an HP DV6 laptop that started reporting a Smart Hard disk Error (0301) I have run the HP diagnostic (both quick and long) which pass with no errors, have purchased a new hard disk and installed with the same result.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

how did you install on the new disk - a fresh install ?
if you imaged the disk - maybe you've copied the problem with it

This is a virgin disk, when booting for the first time to a win7 install CD - it errors way before the boot to disk stage indicating hardware problems

got a 500 gb western digital Drive used partition manager to reduce the size of the partition to 400gb (from 640) took a shadow protect backup image fitted new drive restored - like a beauty

New disk fixed - what's the chances
then your 1st new disk was bad also...strange, but possible
