GPO causing Access Denied on CD/DVD

Computers were given a GPO to deny access to CD/DVD and USB but the OU contained some computers and servers which needed to retain access. These were moved to another OU but would not release their DVDs and USBs for use. Another GPO was created and linked to the new OU to try and reverse the previous GPO but still getting 'Access Denied' when trying to use the DVD. The new GPO is being seen by the servers but not having the desired affect.

Thanks for your reply.

I did all the gpudate /force, restarts and checked it out on RSOP previously. Subsequently there was another problem on the server and it has been rebuilt and now accepts CD/DVDs so may not know just what caused the problem. We are actually using Symantec Endpoint Protection so will have a look at that and whether USB access can be restricted by it as well.

If anybody has any ideas exactly why the CD/DVD was showing 'Denied Access' before I would be interested. The USB was in the same state but had been disabled in Device Manager so was easily rectified.

Sounds good, Yes SEP can restrict access to USB devices and any removable media as well.

Good luck with it..

Not precise but lead me to in another direction for a solution.
