VMware storage usage reporting

Hello EE,

We have a virtual infrastructure and what is happening is when storage gets near capacity the next group who needs a project gets billed for the new storage.  Does anyone have a good reporting tool/model/strategy for billing back the departments for their use of the storage required for the virtual infrastructure?

Thanks

as xbouchardx pointed out....its always good to assign tags to virtual resources be it storage or servers....unless you dont have that in place...you may not be able to even use vmware chargeback or another tool.

one way is to assign storage to each department or assign VM with a prefix for each department...with that done..you can simply export the virtual machines list in your cluster/VC to a excel file and assign costs to memory/cpu/storage in use and bill the relevant team accordingly.
