Looking for an mp3 player (freeware) that will play tracks in a specific order

I need a simple mp3 player that will allow me to "set" a playlist, so that the tracks are played in the same order every time I invoke the player.

I know this probably sounds ridiculously simple, but it's driving me crazy.

Let me make it clear that I do NOT want to use Windows Media Player. I find MWP to be confusing and overloaded with just plain crap I'll never use.

I downloaded 1by1, and looked through all the settings, and if there's one that "locks" in  a bunch of racks in a set order, I can't find it.

Key word: SIMPLE

For an expert, this should be easy. Have at it and let me hear from you asap! Thanks for your time and attention.

RE: VLC media player....nice try, no cigar. The icons in the program I downloaded don't match up with the ones shown in the documentation, and some of the steps don't match up with what you see on screen. Also, it doesn't appear that there's any way to save a playlist in a particular sequence, or else I'm not seeing that in the documentation.

RE: "simple as it gets" in WMP: what are you on? I click on "New Playlist" and it directs me to select something from my Media Library...there's nothing there. It dosn't say how to create a Media Library. I don't want to create a big esoteric mess, I just want something SIMPLE! WMP is another typical Microsoft program written by "experts" who can't explain their way out of a paper bag.

Keyword: SIMPLE!!!!!!

Let me be  even more specific about this:

I want to take a bunch of mp3s I have placed in a folder and create a playlist that will always play  in the same order EVERY time I tell the player to play that file. I want a very simple, very easy-to-use player whose documentation matches what I see on screen when the player is running .

I'll try winAmp and post back here again. Please, no more opinions...just direct info for what I thought would be a simple problem.

The best solution by theras2000 was the best because of the detailed but easy to follow explanation. WinAmp did the job for me nicely.

Concerning "ranting on the people who are trying to help"...I'm not using EE for ten-word opinions. I am here, as I'm sure most other questioners are, for help with specific problems that demand specific and simple answers. Other than ego or a fast and lousy way to snag a minimum of 20 points (a bad policy on EE's part; ZERO points is called for in some cases), bad replies deserve to be slapped down. If you can't take the time to spell it out simply, don't comment.

On the other hand, if I ask you what time it is, don't tell me how to build a watch!

Sorry if this sounds bitter, but I've used EE enough to know my comments are honest, if blunt.  If you're one of  the REAL experts here who provide straightforward solutions that work  and spell out the steps, you'll never get a rant...but you will always get the lion's share of the points!

You don't have to award a 20 point minimum, if when you accept multiple answers you only select those you want to award points to,  the other comments will receive no share of your points.
