Faulting application w3wp.exe

This error pops up at random and kills IIS/ActiveSync.
Last week I had to recover the database the hard way by fixing the edb file.

now I am seeing this and people complain when it happens. I suspect a phone doing it and I do not know how to trace the user it might be coming from.

Faulting application w3wp.exe, version 6.0.3790.3959, faulting module msvcrt.dll, version 7.0.3790.3959.

Is there anything else that may be causing this? Everything I have read is pointing to a phone that is trying to sync bad data.

The http error logs only show abandoned connections from the various phones. We have everything from a motorola's to androids and iPhones.

Any ideas?

The only hits I got on phones were for Windows Mobile devices and were rather old. What is the rest of the event listing?

There was another post in here where they had the same problem and it turned out to be an iPhone. Way the OP found it was the iPhone is when he went to sync it the phone shot out an error at the same time his process died.

We have a crapload of phones and trying to get to everyone's phone is just not feasible. Read the same posts and google has pretty much the same answers but the phones range from Windows Mobiles to iPhones to Androids.

And it looks like the only good course is to send an email to everyone asking them to reply if they have errors syncing their phone.
