Windows Linus Hard Drives

I have an old Delly that has windows xp on it.  Over the years, first I changed the partitions so that I could put on a Ubuntu 10.x desktop on there..  Everything fine until I added a 1 TB drive and tride to use it.  Everything f***ed up.  So I removed it and used it as an offlline storage through external usb.  I recently put a Ubuntu 12.x on there and now receive the expected choice as to where I wish to boot.  Next I added a 350 SATA hard drive (primary drive is SATA)  and assumed system would handle the addition.  But neither OS seem to see it.

I need an XP computer to be able to load itunes for the ex.

Windows xp pro and Ubuntu do not see the additional drive.  What am I missing.
Thanks in advance.

You may be able to detect the drives in IDE mode if SATA isn't working.

Rindi is on right track. Does your BIOS see this drive at all?

mea culpa.  did not think about bios.  Went into bios and it saw SATA-0 and SATA-2.  I had to turn on sata 2.   It now sees a simpledrive in xp.  Ubuntu I believe saw it, but told me I needed permission.

Either way, it is working now.  Thanks.
