Dell Optiplex internal speaker 4 or 5 pin connector when did they change?

I would take the internal speaker out of older Optiplex desktops when they were being replaced.  Now I go to use one in a new optiplex and see that the new machine's mobo has a 5 pin connector for the speaker when the old speakers are using 4 pin connectors.

anyone know when they changed?  So I know when I see an older machine, I'll put these into them vs. throw these away.
