Exchange Offline Defrag

Hello,

We are planning to run an offline defrag on our Exchange 2003 server this coming weekend. The question I have is that I have found conflicting information on if I can stop the defrag from running if we encounter any issues or its taking longer than expected. Can I stop the defrag from running and will it cause any damage to my server, mailbox store, etc...?

I appreciate your help!
Melissa
