I'm not sure I completely follow, but here's a couple thoughts. &nbsp;Are you doing a Copy backup job to the external hard drive, or are you using completely separate jobs for that process? &nbsp;If you're using option 2, are you using compression on one of them and not the other?

I am using BE 2010 (v13.00 rev 2896 x64) installed on W2008R2 file server.<br />
<br />
1 - I am backing up users data to another partition on the same server based on full monthly backup with weekly and daily backup (grandfather father son rotation scheme) <br />
<br />
2 - I am ALSO backing up users data to a removable HDD (Dell RD 1000 1Tb Media ) based on full monthly backup with weekly and daily backups (grandfather father son rotation scheme) .<br />

Backup policies are different but selections are the same &nbsp;(ie always backing up user data folder)<br />
<br />
My current problem is ; If the full monthly backup of the 2nd step is done after the full monthly backup of step 1, the backup size of &nbsp;step 2 is getting very small.<br />
<br />
Logically both full backups size must be the same<br />
<br />
Any idea ?<br />
