Getting data out of a container through export - Filemaker Pro

Gurus,

I'm wanting to find a way to get data out of a "container" field in filemaker pro. I need to export this data out into something like excel.

Is this possible?

Easiest way is to right click the field and choose "Export Field Contents".  If you want to script it, the same function is also available as a script step, but you can choose the field at the same time, so you don't have to click into it...

Hope this helps.

Typically container fields hold a file of some sort, whether it is an image file, a movie file or a text document.  You can't extract the contents of a container straight into another program, unless (maybe) via ODBC or XML...

Any ideas on how I can do this through ODBC?
