Dead SBS 2011 - old backup - current Exchange EDB files - restoring it

Imagine this scenario:

1. SBS 2011 dies (but can still physically see the files if I plug the HDD to another pc - and Exchange files are intact)
2. The only backup available is from a month ago (SBS Backup)

If I do a clean install of SBS, restore from this month-ago backup, and grab the current EDB from the dead SBS 2011, would I be able to mount exchange with it and thus have the latest exchange data?

Hello,

I would test it in a VM Environment first  - It sounds like it could work but would you would probably need the log files as well.

I would be interested to know if you manage to do it.

This says that it can be done:

what I suggest you is to restore the one month old backup and add the missing emails from the edb from the dead server
