Reliability of the database mirroring

I am desiring to use the asynchronous database mirroring on SQL Server 2008 or 2012.
But, I heard this feature is not so reliable than the log shipping and I may lose data when putted under the heavy transactions usage.
Is it true?

Currently I am using log shipping on SQL Server 2005 Enterprise Edition.
This log shipping is working fine.
But if when the need comes to handle fail-over to secondary server and recover to primary server,
it is not easy to operate for all our colleagues.
So, I am seeking more easy solution but not clustering and replication.

Please give me advice.
