HP dl380 Sas expander and new cage

We have an HP dl380 rack mount server and need to add further drives so the sas expander was bought and drives and cage. Am I correct in thinking you have to disconnect the existing two sas connections from controller and plug all now four connections into the expansion card and then link expansion card to the controller that was previously linking the standard first cage?

This link look similar I believe but I think it's not on board controller think its a pic mounted from factory with cache module but until I open I cannot verify

as we already have raid setup on the existing cage will this be ok once connected to the new card. i presume it will stay present etc and just show up the new drives as available to use?

Yup, the current RAID setup won't be lost because the metadata on the drives will be the same. Always worth backing up first though but presumably you backup every night anyway.
thanks for the help
