In Ghost just point to VMDK as your regular GHO image and you can clone directly to/from it. You can also deploy to/from VMDK from Ghostcast server and from Console. <br />

Ghost can create two types of VMDKs - flat and sparse. Sparse grows as it needs and it requires VMX file that describes it, flat VMDK does not gorw and it contains everything in it. By default ghost creates sparse VMDK and it should create descriptor file as well. I dont know why VM player will not accept it or why it will not accept regular VMDK.<br />

Transferring the OS
