Group Policy Question Windows 2008

Apply once and do not reapply? how does it work?

Im using a user group policy to deploy files to %appdata%\roaming\Microsoft\word\startup
a few days a year we update this files and they get deployed to every worksation.

On the worktations we get lots of warnings in eventlog saying the file cant be updated because the file is in use. I would like to get rid of this errors.

If I change to Apply once and do not reapply on all files, will it last as long as the source files are the same as destination. Or will it reapply to all workstation if i update the source with a new file?

I would be gratefull for a quick answser

It will only apply once. If you change the preference item, it will apply again.

What we normally do is just copy the preference item and create an exact copy of it. Then delete the older one.

Thanks for quick reply, what exactly do you mean by, change the preference item?

Will the grp policy deploy the new file if i replace the source file with a new one. Or must i do anything with the policy to deploy the new file?
