I have a linux web server running OSCOMMERCE. We are looking at tightening up on security by closing off unnecessary ports. Can anyone one advise what we need open as minimum for a web server to run. Can we safely shut off all of the other ports?<br />

Minimum open ports required for a web server

The Linux operating system, in all its flavors, has its own share of security flaws that allow intrusions, but there are various mechanisms by which these flaws can be removed, generally divided into two parts: authentication and access control.
