How to map property lines
I want to make a computer map of my property (about 40 acres).
I am not interested in the actual legal property lines.
What I am interested in is drawing a map in some computer program of my walking path along my property lines.
So, my criteria are:
What do I use to get extremely accurate and repeatedly accurate coordinates?
How to I get this route into my computer?
And what program should I use to draw or plot this info on the computer screen?
Thanks.

An additional site besides the one mentioned by quicksilver17 is http://www.arcgis.com/explorer/
this site allows you to upload gpx files and you can use an assortment of base maps (i.e. Imagery, topo, street maps).
If you are going to be printing these maps out, arcgis explorer is not a good option then, it is optimized for computer viewing and lousy for printing capability.

I'm looking to map it on a local application, not something on the web. Is there a windows program that will allow me to map it out on my own PC?
you could convert the gpx file to kml/kmz and vizualize in google earth:

If you have a GPS device chances are you have a mapping program that came with it. I know magellan comes with one and so does Garmin, generally. The most basic ones if you do not have one already are roughly $30 and increasing in price as features and quality increase.
