Have you checked the partitions included in backup with chkdsk x:/f?
Apparently, what causes this are wrong startup settings for the SCSI controller. Read this: http://networkadminkb.com/KB/a467/how-to-fix-windows-2008-r2-system-state-backup-fails.aspx

ASKER

i am able to run C drive backup and it is done successfully.

but i am running system state backup then i am getting that error which i mention above. i dont have any vmware something like that this is DC and symantec endpoint protection installed and one backup exe agent installed for automatic backup it was fine till last  month when i try to take backup this month i got this message i am backing up system state backup whith Volume Shadow copy which is by default select. do i need to change to other option ?

any service is relevent to this ... but if service is relevent to this then why other backup options are working fine.

i did baremental recovery option backup which is done sucessfully . i was monitoring the data transfer .it was like that

system reserved  Completed
Local Drive C:       completed
System State           -                  means to datatransfer shown here just like that
baremetal               -                  same here like that

but no error in event log and showing  backup sucessfull.

Please help how i can take system state backup or other way to take active directory backup dhcp backup means complete structure backup.

and i run the following cammads as well

i want to explain about about Event ID 51,517,57,VSS ,29 regarding system state bacup.
i am running 2008 R2 if you get this type of error during system state backup please check your destination drives if you are backing up an other system backup that hard disk is to old and taking time to write the data .

second if you are using NAS storage some of them they dont support system state you will get above errors or 517specially.

Then i bought new external hard disk for backup and it went smooth sucessfully.
