asked on

can not log in to owa Exchange 2010

Hello,

since the upgrade to SP2 it is not possible to log in to owa. We found the folling error in the eventvwr: "error trying to load the modul-DLL 'C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V14\Bin\exppw.dll" (tranlated from German to English)
So we tried to reinstall the CAS-Rolle but we are getting the second error in the program/features: "exsetup can not start directly to excecute upgrades. Use Setup.com".

Is the Server still in the upgradeprocess? What ca we do?

Thank a lot in advance!

Thanks for the fast reply
4. Made sure that the 'exppw.dll' is only present at OWA level and not at any of the top heirarchy.
5. Then ensured for this module in OWA (VDir), ‘Module Type’ is set to ‘Native’ and ‘Entry Type’ is ‘Local’

I don't know what i have to do.

Do we solve my sp2- Upgrade problem with this solution?

THX!
What 4 is saying is that if you click on the default web site, and then double-click Modules over on the right, then you shouldn't see exppw in the list.  But then if you click on 'owa' in the tree view on the left, and then double-click Modules again, it should now be in the list.  In other words, you only see expww in the list if you look at the modules at the owa vdir level.

What 5 is saying is that when you have found it in the list (at the owa level), single-click the entry in the list, scroll the pane to the right, and it should say Native and Local in the two right-hand columns.

This hopefully will solve the OWA issue, but the "exsetup can not start directly to excecute upgrades. Use Setup.com"  problem will be dues to something else completely.
I am on the default web site -> Modules and i see the exppw.
In owa exppw ist listed and native but not local. It is inherited.

How can i change both?

The strange thing now is that the admin can log in to owa, so i put the user in the administrator group and now it is possible for the user to log in. Strange...
i have still the error in eventvwr.
i have open a second case only for the exchange server.

Thanks!
but i have still the problem with my owa log in!
Okay, it is inherited at the OWA level because it exists at the default web site level.  You will need to highlight it in the modules list for the Default Web Site level, and select Remove in the right hand task pane.  It will probably also then disappear from the Modules list at the OWA level, but if we are lucky it will still be there.  Let me know if it isn't, and we'll re-add it at the OWA level only (and it will then say Local instead of Inherited).
i removed it and it's also removed from owa. i get it back by 'Configure Native Modules' and select from the list exppw (local) -> iisreset /noforce. Is that correct?
Do that when you are looking at the properties of the OWA vdir, otherwise you will just put it back at the default web site level.
i have still the problem and the error in the eventvwr... i will restart the server this evening
Okay, let me know what happens.
