Cannot send email to mail contact (Exchange 2007)

Hi i am getting the error below when sending an email to an external mail contact from our on premise Exchange Server.  Emails sent to this recipient from gmail etc work fine.

There is a problem with the recipient's e-mail system. More than one user has this e-mail address. The recipient's system administrator will have to fix this. Microsoft Exchange will not try to redeliver this message for you. Please provide the following diagnostic text to your system administrator and then try resending the message after the problem has been resolved.

I cannot find a duplicate email address on our Exchange Server.

Look for the address in AD.
From a Global Catalog server CMD run:

ldifde -f d:\smtp_check.txt -r "(proxyaddresses=smtp:fred.smith@domain.com)"

(assuming Fred Smith is the person and domain.com is the SMTP domain) :)

This will report any duplicates in YOUR system, hidden or not, which may be the issue.
The report will show any contact, mailbox, public folder etc that has this address.
Hi thanks for your response.  I have found an entry the Exchange Administrative group but cannot find this group to remove the entry:-

legacyExchangeDN:
ou=Exchange Administrative Group (FYDIBOHF23SPDLT)/cn=Recipi
 ents/cn=Johnsmith

How do i remove the entry from here?

Thanks again

Tim
That LDAP read output will show the displayname of that object and a type to show if it is a folder or contact or mailbox.
Use normal Exchange Console to edit it and remove that address (as it is external).
