Connection attempts with the rexec and rcp commands failed

Hi,

I'm trying to add a Windows client server with OS: 2003 Server Standard SP2 to the Cell Manager for HP Data Protector, and I faced this error: "Connection attempts with the rexec and rcp commands failed".

How can I fix it?

BTY: the server is a standalone not joined to a domain.

I don't know about HP Data Protector but did you try adding your server using its ip address instead of its name?

Yes, I tried them both but none of them work.

Is there a command line option to use alternative rexec ? In this case you can use ssh instead.

Are you trying a push install from Unix? According to this you need a Windows installation server to push the client install.

We are trying to install from UNIX; it is already configured as an installation server for Windows OS.

Did you try installing the client on your W2K3 server using Windows installation media and then import the client?

Yes.
In Addition, our Cell Manager is a UNIX server, and it is unable to communicate with the Windows server.

Can you connect to 512/tcp and 513/tcp both ways? Are both servers listening? Can you see connection packet reaching the port either way?

ASKER
Yes, we can. However, we are using the default port 5555 port for Data Protector.

Can you connect and catch connection to 5555/tcp and a packet to 5555/udp ?
Maybe antivirus "worm protection" hates you http://www.speedguide.net/port.php?port=5555
