Virtual PC 7 installation problem

I need to install Virtual PC on my laptop which runs Windows 7 Ultimate x64. It is dual core with 4GB RAM and a 500GB hard drive.

I cannot find a copy of Virtual PC that will allow full installation.  It always presents an error message stating that it is the wrong type for my system. I did install the XP Mode in an attempt to install Virtual PC 2007 and would install it if I could find the program. I don't see it in the program uninstall function.

Once operational I plan to install the virtual machines on a 288GB external hard drive. This is only for studying for a MS certification, so the system speed isn't critical.

Your help would be appreciated! Thanks!

This might be a long shot but make sure that you have enabled the Virtual settings in your laptop bios.

Even if I download Virtual PC from several locations at Microsoft and using different version (VPC 7, VPC 2007), it still gives me the same message.

That's very strange.  Did you read through the entire tutorial, including the prerequisites?
